Listing of a Variety / Hybrid in International (OECD) Seed Certification

Procedure

Seed producing companies shall submit the application to the Joint Secretary (Seeds), DAC&FW, Ministry of Agriculture, GOI & National Designated Authority (NDA) for listing of Varieties/Hybrids under “OECD National List”.

The OECD list of varieties eligible for certification is an official list of varieties which have been accepted by National Designated Authorities (NDAs) as eligible for certification in accordance with the Rules & Regulations of the OECD Seed Schemes.

The Varieties List which is revised annually by the National Designated Authorities participating in the seed schemes includes details of the maintainer of the variety and the name of the country where the variety has been registered.

Criteria

  • All Varieties and Hybrids released and notified under the Seeds Act, 1966
  • All Varieties and Hybrids which are filed for registration under PPV&FRA (Based on DUS criteria)
  • All Varieties and Hybrids that have already undergone multi-location testing for two years in public systems (ICAR, SAU etc.)
  • All Varieties and Hybrids which have export potential and under gone multi-location testing continuously for two years including in-house trials with appropriate checks and plot sizes in India.
  • All Varieties and Hybrids of India that have been tested in the importing country under its national varietal testing system for two years.
